This sound mod is great. I have this one and the one from predator (@modwarsound) and this one blows it out of the water. I couldn't find one sound that wasn't changed... and almost all were very well done. Grenades don't have quite the POP they should have, but it is very nice for an initial release.
Agree completely.
I truly love this one, I will be using this as many times as I can while having some ArmA action.
Great job from the FDF team again, but that isnt suprising is it? Always high quality
I love the sounds. However, is there some issue with the way the sound is modelled over distance? I know BIS model the speed of sound but something sounds odd with the mod. Enemy gunfire gets sort of an echo that sounds like the gunfire is right behind you when it is actually a couple of hundred metres ahead.
Yeah I know what you mean. However I have that problem with the default Arma (no addons) as well.
I think it has to do with the soundcards we are using.
As you say, the default Arma is the same so it's not the mod at fault. I've tampered with the audio console settings but can't cure it. Is it a fault universally or just with the X-Fi?
I think the X-fi cards are suffering the most from this.
If you have an onboard (or maybe a spare non X-fi) sound card you might try that and see if that fixes your problem.
I have an onboard card as well but decided I want to wait and see if BIS can fix this issue (or maybe creative with a driver update).
If not I will try my onboard as well in the future.
Have not tried it yet but all ways liked your sound mod & well done.
But on the other hand i like the CSM sound mod too so will use both & diside what one i`am going to stick with,as i realy like the 249 & the m4a1 sounds that are in the CSM,but ill give your sound mod a far go cheers buddy nice work
Try them yourself
People arent equal and so is their likings of a sound mod not equal.
Many people prefer Chammy's but really a lot of people love the FDF mod.
Download them both and play with one of them at a time and see which one you like most
Personally I prefer the fdf sound mod. Try 'em both as I did, they're both great. I think chammy's mod has better sound for the MG on the blackhawk.. And FDF better rifle sound.. Just have to make a compramise. Pick n' choose :dozingoff
Why does it say FDF 1.3 needs Queens gambit? Ive got this version since several months and i didnt discover until now that it needs QB, it works fine for me.
I think I've tried all available sound mods and I like this the best. :love
There is one problem tho. I duno if its just for me but in most vehicles (AH1, M1A1, UH60 etc) the engine sound is VERY quiet, almost silent when inside. All other sounds are normal and other sound packs do not do this.
In reality it would be the other way around. When inside the engine noise would be louder than exterior sounds.
The sounds are really impressive, all sounds seems to have been changed even the footstep sounds, you can hear your equipment moving when you are running or walking. The only thing I don't like about this mod is that when using the minigun on the black hawk and A10, and you fire a quick burst and see the bullets stop shooting but the sounds keep playing. It's minor but other than that it's a good mod

X-fi?
Yep. I'm using X-Fi. Maybe the settings? Crystalliser etc? I'll do a bit of experimenting when I get time.

Which one sounds better? Chammy's Sound Mod, or FDF Sound Mod? Thanks...

Indeed, you are correct.
At release it was said Queens gambit was required but soon others said it want. We forgot to remove it
Now its gone.
Thanks for the headsup.
