I just had a hour long dogfight with a large amount of these planes. Very fun. The fights last longer as there are no rockets, the wings blow off when you machine gun them - very cool. Cockpits look great, everything's in place and even a stick. The lightning P38 is a blast, sounds amazing, handles great and when every other plane is small you feel like Han Solo in WWII. The only complaint I have is the sound of the Spitfire and Hurricane. The engine loop is a little short and it sounds like a lawnmower. Also, the sounds when the plane flies close to you are very quiet.
i love that kind of planes, really goooood work but check ur arma2.rpt/arma2.rpt after gaming those planes causes unfortunately heavy laags after a while on coop/tdm missions !
For the next update, you need to adjust the aileron response. The roll moves are very sluggish for every model. In RL, they were pretty damned quick. Of course, it's easy enough to fix by tweaking the config file; I just figured you'd want to do that yourself for the next release. Which reminds me: the P-38 kinda struck out in Europe, but it succeeded in the Pacific (temperature/elevation issues).
I can not express how awesome it was to dogfight over Namalsk Island (especially when you turn on the Weather module in the Mission Editor), leading a four-plane formation of P-38's against nine BF-109's. Being a flight simulator enthusiast of over twenty years, I'm not an easy man to impress, either, but this game with (a good joystick) can be as simple and fun to play as a previous-gen dogfighter, like 1943: The European Air War.
The tracer effects and the handling of the aircraft was convincing enough to make me feel like I were watching gun camera footage. The Stuka? Especially awesome, I really hope you get the limitations with the turret worked out - this piece has potential for some really cinematic missions! Finally, awesome work with the clippable wings.
There will be problems, yes, since the ARMA2 engine isn't really optimized for this sort of thing (but then again, is it really optimized for anything?) If the add-on downloader feels that this mod is lacking, they would do better to simply purchase IL2 Sturmovik or Pacific Fighters instead.
I only have two complaints 1. While the textures for the cockpit are very well detailed, I find the gunsight in each plane is too coarse/thick for precision shooting. Would you kindly consider making them a little less "bold?"
2. Quicksilver is right about the aileron response. The planes, especially at lower speeds, can handle somewhat sluggishly. I'm very sure even a P-38 could snap off a roll just a little bit more briskly, and the Spitfire just doesn't feel very quick in a wingover.
Oh, and finally one more intrusion, if you'll pardon it - if you're looking for ideas on your next release, may I recommend a Vought F4U Corsair? I would love to see one of those strafing the chemical factories at Namalsk or the Quesh-Kibrul refineries someday!
yes with that planes u did an awesome job
i really love them and the fact that u can shoot off their wings is really sweet
yea like Wingnut_English means a bit more handling would be cool...
only thing i can say is awesome work :thumb
This is bloody epic! Just miss a P-51A/B/C/D Mustang, B-17/24/29... an Change Vought F4U Corsair would be cewl too for the Carrier in UTES, and maybe some Junker or Focke Wulf planes
for the germans, or add some Japanese WWII airplanes in it... so you can imagine that UTES is at the pacific...
I LOVE the handling, tough i wish there were more models of the Spitfire, and with all planes more bullets or more ammunition... or more ammunition...
Futher, EPIC airplanes, realy great job! Dont take all above writing wrong... just some things i might want to see futher!
Damn, I can't wait until I can man the rear gun on the Ju87. However, I must say it is a nice addition for a challenge. While testing, I flew the P38 directly behind the Junkers at the same speed and the rear gunner shot me down in a matter of seconds.
Your addon is incredible and it's not even done yet.
thing is, and this has nothing to do with your addon, i tried the same thing as the dragothewolf...tried to get a stuka, the one with the reat guns to shoot at me. i think in 10 minutes he only fired a few bullets at me. how do i get the ai in these planes to be more aggressive?
Hi can someone plz tell me or send me a link for the ammo class names for these??? plz? mainly the b17 bomb bay name plz i really need it 4 a lvl im making. this mod is amazing 10/10
Just fyi i cant use the p38 lightning wreck it says like "cannot open p38 wreck" or something.
wow
looks awesome hehe
nice planes :yay
@Guesswho
Go to editor, spawn anybody, spawn an empty P38, click prewiew, click on or continue to any errors, and it will work, does for me
Awesome planes, these will nicely compliment all the upcoming WWII mods
BTW could you add a P39 Aircobra or a P40 Warhawk
Freaking Awsome. Fun fun fun. Really Good work, you magnificent B*****d! :happy
