When introduced to Vietnam, the early Phantom 2 models were outclassed. They handled sluggishly, mounted only missles for AA (which had issues), and were easily outmaneuvered in dogfights by the more agile (and gun equipped) Mig 17s and 21s. The solution was the F4E, which introduced a front mounted cannon, leading edge wing slats and improved performance and handling. It became the go-to CAP fighter, and while not perfect, improved the kill ratio to 3-1 (which was still down from 8-1 during Korea). The Navy, Airforce, and Marines all maintained their own take on this aircraft. I'd love to see this model come out in multiple service textures/configurations, because it's one of my favorite aircraft. The aileron, rudder, and top speed settings in the config file need some adjustments which would more accurately reflect the aircraft's abilities. Additionally, bump up the internal sound setting to .1 at least (this was NOT a quiet airplane). The cockpit needs detailing, the textures need work, and the shadow, likewise, but that's little stuff. Nice transfer from Arma, and a solid beta release.
After some more gameplay using this, I've got to say, I love the sound level. Low over the hills, it's very hard to pinpoint what the approach vector is, so in pvp, you have a little better chance of not getting blasted when making your wild weasle run. Unfortunately, some of my players complained that they could not hear their radios (VOIP) while running this addon, so I had to go into the config and scale it back a bit. At 10, it is still plenty loud. I also adjusted the aileron/rudder settings, and the AB intensity settings, which, in my opinion, were too high... particle affects messing with the tail. I played with the AB boost, but you've got that pretty dialed in.... for a little bit, we had Battlestar Galactica Viper launches going on... LMAO. I wish Arma had individual settings for sea level and at altitude performance, but I guess they didn't think of that (along with the 60,000 ft clouds).
I can't see any missiles attached to the plane. I've got this problem with the F-14 aswell. What am I doing wrong? And what do I do with the PSD files?
lovely plane
too loud for buddies on the ground
tweak needed in the self-fueling loop in the afterburner causing you to go off like a rocket
we script in some extra FFAR's as the plane carries less than are visible on the pods
a loud noise when it is spawned too - i think it's the wings folding down.
brilliant work but could use a final sort out
thumbs up!
Alpha huh, gotta test it and come back, it'll be nice with the Vietnam the experience mod :yes
Perhaps they should think about making other planes also, before engaging in the skys.

This is perfect! The cluster bomb is perfect, no problems found with the plane even this is alpha! this deserves 100 points. 10/10 :yay
:satisfiedThanks so much this mod just made my day the f4 phantom is one of my favorites.
NICE! great job! The only flaw are the shadows which you mentioned in the known issues, but i'll stick to the cockpit untill they are fixed.
cheers!

Nice plane! Lowering the shadow detail to normal on video options gets rid of the shadow problem.
Can I see the missile/rocket/bomb classnames pls.? :)
